LASC: IMPROVED REMOTE HEARINGS PLATFORM COMING SOON TO FAMILY LAW, CIVIL AND TRAFFIC DIVISIONS

Superior Court and Los Angeles County Bar Association to Cohost Webinar on Oct. 31 to Guide Users Through New LACourtConnect 3.0 Features

The Superior Court of Los Angeles County announces a phased implementation schedule for the expansion of the LACourtConnect (LACC) 3.0 platform for attorneys and litigants wishing to appear remotely in Family Law, Civil and Traffic hearings. LACC 3.0, first launched in the Court’s Probate Division on Sept. 6, offers attorneys and litigants greater convenience and flexibility in managing court appearances remotely with a simplified interface and enhanced functionality.

Phased Implementation Schedule

The Court will implement LACC 3.0 in accordance with the phased implementation schedule below:

Division | Launch Date

  • Family Law | Nov. 1
  • Civil (including Small Claims and Unlawful Detainers) | Nov. 15
  • Traffic | Nov. 22

No Advanced Registration Required

  • LACC 3.0 eliminates the existing pre-registration requirement, allowing participants to check-in on the same day a few minutes prior to the scheduled hearing. Therefore, no advanced registration will be required for:
  • Family Law hearings scheduled on or after Nov. 1. Civil (including Small Claims and Unlawful Detainer) hearings scheduled on or after Nov. 15.
  • Traffic hearings scheduled on or after Nov. 22.

Litigants visiting LACC’s existing registration page will be automatically redirected to the LACC 3.0 platform for same-day check-in.

LACC 3.0 Features

LACC 3.0 introduces features designed to improve the remote hearing experience. These features include:

  • Enhanced functionality and simplified interface: The updated platform is designed for ease of use, providing a streamlined experience for attorneys and litigants alike.
  • Same-day check-in: Participants can now check-in just a few minutes prior to their scheduled hearing, eliminating the need for pre-registration.
  • No registration needed for remote appearances: The improved system allows users to join remote hearings without needing to register or schedule in advance.
  • Standard Microsoft Teams features: Industry-leading stability and ease of use, ensuring a reliable and efficient platform for remote hearings.
  • My Checked-in Hearings feature: This feature allows users to check-in to multiple hearings at once and view all checked-in hearings in one place.

The Court has already successfully implemented LACC 3.0 in all Probate departments. The initial implementation has allowed the Court to test and refine the platform in court environments, ensuring a smooth and effective expansion to other courtrooms. Feedback from litigants and attorneys in these Probate departments has been universally positive, highlighting LACC 3.0’s improved usability and stability.
