Court Notice

KERN COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT: EXPANSION OF VENUE FOR FAMILY LAW CASES IN LAMONT MULTI-DIVISIONAL COURTHOUSE, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2ND, 2024

Under the authority of California Rules of Court, rule 10.603(b)(1)(B), the following family law matters will be filed and heard in the Lamont Multi—Divisional court: Orders; motions and orders to show cause; dissolution of marriage matters; domestic violence matters; paternity matters; mandatory settlement conferences; trials; defaults; surrogacy’ and child custody and visitation. The only family law matters that will not be heard in the Lamont Multi-Divisional court are adoptions, abandonments, or any cases involving the Department of Child Support Services.

As a result, Local Rules of Court, rule 1.7.5, subsections (h)(2) and (h)(5) are partially suspended effective January 2, 2024. This suspension applies solely to the cases specified above, which would be filed in the Lamont Multi-Divisional Courthouse in accordance with the “Venue by Zip Code” table. See Local Rules Appendix A. As of January 1, 2024, due to the local rule amendments which renumber the applicable provisions, this order will partially suspend Local Rules of Court, rule 1.7.5, subsections (g)(2) and (g)(5).
