For 16 years, the First Legal messenger team has been pedaling to the medal in the annual
Cranksgiving event, a bike race benefitting Para Los Niños. Para Los Niños is a non-profit
social services and educational organization whose mission is to raise children out of poverty and
help the neediest families in Los Angeles County through positive educational opportunities and
wrap-around support. With six early education centers and three charter schools serving some
1,570 low-income children, Para Los Niños also places education at the core of its mission to break
the cycle of poverty.
Cranksgiving is first and foremost a food drive but also includes a bike race, and overall
scavenger hunt across Los Angeles. Messengers race around the city, purchasing groceries and
kitchen staples that are then donated to families in need.
First Legal has been a member of the Los Angeles Community for over 30 years and, during this
time, we have witnessed poverty throughout the city. Furthermore, as of 2015, the U.S. Census Bureau estimates that 18.2% of Los Angeles residents live below the poverty line. We feel strongly that we can have a positive impact on our community by engaging with our community and
supporting inspiring nonprofits and charitable organizations like Para Los Niños. We are also
extremely proud to have employees that take initiative and work to support causes close to their
hearts!
