Court Notice

MARIN COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT: MANDATORY EFILING REQUIREMENT

Effective July 29th, 2024, Marin County Superior Court will implement mandatory electronic filing (eFiling) for all parties represented by attorneys in the following case types, pursuant to California Rules of Court 2.253(b)(1) and Marin County Superior Court Local Rule 1.51:

  • Civil (Limited & Unlimited)
  • Family Law
  • Family Support
  • Adoptions
  • Mental Health
  • Small Claims Appeals
  • Probate

Key Points:

Mandatory eFiling: All documents filed in the above case types must be submitted electronically through an approved Electronic Filing Service Provider (EFSP). Paper filings will no longer be accepted from attorneys. Pursuant to California Rules of Court Rule 2.253(b) and Marin County Superior Court Local Rule 1.51.

  1. Rejected Filings: Any filings submitted in person, via drop box, or by mail from parties represented by attorneys will be rejected. It is essential that all attorneys and law firms comply with this requirement to avoid delays in the processing of their documents.
  2. Self-Represented Litigants (SRLs): While SRLs are encouraged to use eFiling for their convenience, they are not required to do so. SRLs may continue to submit paper filings in person, via drop box, or by mail. Pursuant to California Rules of Court Rule 2.253(b)(2)
  3. Support: If you encounter any issues with eFiling or have questions, please first contact your EFSP for assistance. If they are unable to answer your question, you may forward your inquiries to eFiling@marin.courts.ca.gov.

The implementation of mandatory eFiling is part of our ongoing efforts to improve efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enhance access to justice. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we make this transition.
